TRUSTS & ESTATES PARALEGAL

This Position Reports to Our Rochester, NY Law Office

We have an opening for Trusts & Estates Paralegal, who is available to work full or part-time, in our Rochester, NY office. We look to hire bright individuals who are team players with a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and who work well both independently and as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have a two- or four-year degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with a minimum of three years of current work experience as a Trust & Estates Paralegal. Experience in probate matters (including drafting petitions and settlement of accounts), trust administration matters, the preparation federal and state estate tax returns, and a working knowledge of fiduciary income tax returns is required. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, preparing petitions for probate and/or administration; preparing estate and trust accountings; drafting receipt and release documents; preparing asset listings and valuation of assets; preparing federal and state estate tax returns; and assisting executors in the marshalling of probate assets.

Candidates should possess familiarity with Surrogate’s Court practice responsibilities, such as interpreting Wills and trust instruments and the filing requirements for estate and trust administration matters. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional and proactive workstyle. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, HotDocs, and FAS accounting system is preferred.
