Underberg & Kessler LLP

Underberg & Kessler LLP

Litigation is like golf. To win, you need intense focus, a competitive fire, the ability to see far ahead, and the skill to negotiate hazards. A former collegiate golfer, Matt Miller has translated these qualities of sportsmanship to his litigation practice. As a civil and commercial litigator, he has represented large corporations, small businesses, and individuals in a variety of matters, including insurance defense, personal injury, business torts, and labor and employment law.

A committed advocate for his clients, Matt's goal is to turn difficult legal situations into positive outcomes. He represents his clients with passion and determination, weighs all legal options, and communicates those options to clients in language they can understand. He believes in exceeding expectations, while at the same time staying grounded in reality. He is fair but competitive, knowing when to fight and when to negotiate, when to hold his ground and when to compromise—whatever strategy arrives at the most beneficial result. Above all, he sees his clients not as cases, but as people, and is able to stand in their shoes and advocate for their point of view.

Prior to joining Underberg & Kessler, Matt was an associate at Muggia & Associates where he successfully litigated numerous cases for clients in the rental car industry. He received his B.A. from Hamilton College, and his J.D. degree from the Dickinson School of Law at The Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the Monroe County, Erie County, and New York State Bar Associations, as well as the American Bar Association, where Matt is a member of many committees, including the Automobile Law, Tort & Insurance Law, and the Ethics and Professionalism Committees.
