For Gene, variety is the spice of law. As a member of the Corporate & Business, Tax & ERISA, and Technology and New Media Practice Groups, his areas of specialty range from sports law, to intellectual property, to commercial, business and corporate law. He has extensive experience in negotiating complex vendor commercial contracts, corporate and business agreements, and sales and distribution arrangements. He has represented closely held businesses in all areas including formation, financing, commercial activities, and planning. Gene has served as counsel for over 15 years to a publicly traded multi-national corporation with respect to its commercial contract and business matters. Recent experience includes representing an international publicly held company in a major acquisition of a U.S. business, assisting in the purchase of the Buffalo Sabres NHL Hockey Team, and in the acquisition of a major convenience chain store business.
He previously has served as special counsel to the National Hockey League in negotiating agreements with new franchises and new ownership groups.
Gene is a member of the New York and Florida Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court in the Western District of New York. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Canisius College in 1976 and his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1979. He serves as a director on several closely held businesses, is vice president of the West Seneca Youth Baseball Association, and is a member of the Foundation Advisory Board of the Brothers of Mercy.
