It’s not every day that a lawyer receives an ASCAP song writers' award. But we’d expect no less from the multi-talented Paul Nunes.
As a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, chair of the Technology & New Media Practice Group, and co-chair of the Insurance Defense Practice Group, Paul has extensive experience in complex business and commercial litigation, intellectual property, insurance defense and toxic torts, including asbestos, mold and food-borne illness cases. He also lectures on current litigation issues at various local and state bar association CLE programs, including the New York State Judicial Institute. He is a faculty member of the Monroe County Bar Association Law Academy and served as chair of its litigation section. Paul is certified in alternative dispute resolution techniques.
In addition to practicing law, Paul writes, records and performs his own original music. Six of his CDs have received numerous national awards. He is the multiple recipient of ASCAP’s PLUS award for song writers, and his composition, “River Keep Rollin’”, is currently featured in the City of Rochester’s

Anniversary laser show. He also is active in the local community. Paul is a board member of the Arts and Cultural Council. He currently serves as legal counsel to Young Audiences of Rochester, an organization that promotes the arts in local schools. Paul also served as president of the Landmark Society of Western New York from 1998-2000. During his tenure, he produced "Landmarks in Music - The Rochester Jazz Collection."
Prior to joining Underberg & Kessler in 1985, Paul was a litigator with the Wall Street law firm of Thacher, Proffitt & Wood. He graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 1977 and served as law clerk for Hon. Emmett J. Schnepp, Appellate Division, Fourth Department.
